The Danger in Your Eyes – Demos

The double-sided single features two songs: “Dreamer,” and “I’m Sorry for How I Loved You,” both of which are slow ballads that sway and revolve around heartbreak.

The opener, “Dreamer,” was originally written, recorded, and produced in 2017. I was living in a garage in Orange, California at the time while I was still in school. And the second track was written, recorded, and produced in my first Los Angeles apartment within the early days of Winter ’19.

Lyrics

leave my love low, loose ‘neath my knees,
like Your favorite flower embroidered jeans.
You were my hazy naked neon dream.
but i haven’t slept for weeks. i don’t want to dream.

i’m fine i’m fine i’m fine i’m fine
i’m fine i’m fine i’m fine i’m fine
i’m fine i’m fine i’m fine i’m fine
i’ll be fine this time.

choke my soul slow, let me plea to breathe.
i want to feel You – i’ll take anything.
i am no good no more: no asian pear tea.
i can tell myself what i need. like a futile, optimistic creep.

i’m fine i’m fine i’m fine i’m fine
i’m fine i’m fine i’m fine i’m fine
i’m fine i’m fine i’m fine i’m fine
i’ll be fine this time.

sitting upside-down & alone in a loveseat.
sitting upside-down & alone in a loveseat.

i’m fine i’m fine i’m fine i’m fine
i’m fine i’m fine i’m fine i’m fine
i’m fine i’m fine i’m fine i’m fine
i’ll be fine this time.

Lyrics

i never treasured You:
the danger in Your eyes; the heart in Your hands.
i was naive to be shaded blue.
now i’m awake & it’s only two a.m.

i’ve sulked through a lifetime of lovers,
yet i still only think of You.
the most beautiful thing i’ll ever know
is how i felt while loving You.
i’m sorry for how i loved You.

i should have said “i love you” more.
the sweet smell of Your sweat; the wisdom of Your words.
it bred butterflies that made me sore.
now i read rusty letters to the birds.

i’ve sulked through a lifetime of lovers,
yet i still only think of You,
Your bare body standing before me
like michelangelo sculpted You.
and it’s completely crazy to me
we don’t speak sounds like we used to.
the most beautiful thing i’ll ever know
is how i felt while loving You.
i’m sorry for how i loved You.

i made so many stupid mistakes.
the quiet calls of lust; the anxieties of “now?”
i’m crying, curled, every night. it’s late.
& You’re all i want to forget right now.
